What we do: With a small staff of experienced professionals and committed volunteers appointed to the board of directors by the Franklin County Legislature, we work to secure a better future through investment and quality jobs. Our board and staff keep these goals in mind, and it shows in how we work on every project.

To accomplish these goals, the IDA provides financing resources to business and industry in the form of bonding and PILOT (payments-in-lieu-of-taxes). The exemptions and tax treatment for bonds, sales and use taxes, and for mortgage recording tax may determine whether or not a project is feasible.

The IDA also assists with site selection and development, owning property for commercial and industrial purposes including large industrial buildings in Malone and Bombay. In addition, the Tupper Lake Business Park and the Chateaugay Business Park are owned and developed by the IDA, with the Chateaugay location already pre-permitted as a Build Now NY shovel ready site.

As a Public Authority, the IDA is regulated by the NYS Authorities Budget Office. This means that the IDA meets requirements for transparency and accountability as specified by law and regulation. The IDA's operating policies, meeting minutes, budgets and various reports are all here for you to see on our website.
